Medium-complexity designs such as mechanical parts, custom brackets, and molds take 2–5 hours at 40–100 JD. Complex projects including complete product models and multi-part assemblies are quoted individually based on requirements. We always agree on the expected hours with you before starting — no surprises. Providing clear reference images and precise dimensions significantly reduces design time and cost. The more detail you provide, the faster and more accurate the design will be. Ideally, send: clear photos from multiple angles (if you have a reference object), precise dimensions in millimeters (length, width, height), a description of the function (does it carry weight? does it move or snap together?), and your preferred print material. If you have no photo, a detailed written description or a hand-drawn sketch works well. You can also bring a physical part for reverse engineering. Yes, we handle both design modifications and STL file repairs. Common mesh errors such as open holes, inverted faces, and non-manifold geometry are fixed as part of our service — minor repairs are often included at no extra charge. Substantive modifications such as resizing, adding new features, or redesigning components are billed at the hourly design rate based on actual work time. If you need to change an existing product design (for example, adjusting tolerances for a better fit, or adding a mounting hole), send us the file and describe the change. We will provide a free preliminary assessment and time estimate before proceeding.

Design time depends on the complexity of the part and the quality of references provided. Simple designs (1–2 hours) are typically completed the same day or the following business day. Medium-complexity designs (2–5 hours) take one to two days. Complex multi-part projects have delivery timelines agreed upon during the scoping consultation. Once the design is complete, you can proceed directly to printing with us, or take the STL file to print elsewhere. We send the STL file plus the native design file (STEP or F3D format) for future revisions upon request. If you need changes after receiving the file, we apply the same hourly rate only for actual modification time.
